RugbyRocks catches up with Rob Kearney: Ambassador for Optimum Nutrition
Irish International and British and Irish Lion Rob Kearney is a Brand Ambassador for Optimum Nutrition. Currently playing for Leinster, Rob is one of the stars of the game and counts a Heineken Cup win and a historic Six Nations Grand Slam amongst a glittering rugby career to date.
Rugby Rocks caught up with Rob before he headed off to Ireland camp for the upcoming summer tour to Australia and New Zealand.
RugbyRocks: Have you ever been in a band?
Rob Kearney: No…sadly
RR: Would you rather be a rugby star or a rock star?
RK: A rock star…what a lifestyle!
RR: Do any of your team-mates fancy themselves as rock stars?
RK: Yes, one or two, but I’m not naming them - except a certain number 8!
RR: Who chooses the music in the Ireland changing room? What do you listen to?
RK: Rala the bagman chooses the music. Its generally something like Christy Moore…I listen to whatever is on my Ipod though, a personal choice depending on my mood
RR: Rugby Sevens is pretty exhausting work – which ON product would you recommend for Sevens players?
RK: I’m a huge fan of their range and wouldn’t trust my nutrition to anyone else. Their products mix well, taste great and the results speak for themselves. 2:1:1 Recovery is a fantastic product as it refuels and replenishes hard-working muscles quickly and effectively.
RR: Give us a prediction for your game against New Zealand on 12 June?
RK: I hope we win, but it will be close...I’ll go with Ireland by 3-5 points!
